Simon Taylor

As a learning and development expert Simon assists clients to improve the impact of new systems and business processes. He has also contributed to multiple procurement and contract management activities across a range of RFI/RFP tenders.

Simon (Si) is a consultant with The Integral Group and an independent consultant since 1995. 

He is a curious, variety junkie and always keen to understand what is ‘under the bonnet’ of every organisation. His eclectic roles have included:

  • snow ski and kayak instructor
  • survey statistician
  • mail order warehouse ‘troll’
  • call centre operator
  • political studies and history graduate
  • conference MC
  • 360 degree feedback tools coach and mentor
  • trainer of trainers
  • radio operator
  • troop commander
  • training and development advisor/officer or learning consultant
  • not-for-profit sector volunteer

Simon has over two decades of experience within the finance and financial services industry. He has consulted or contracted to a wide range of Government departments and agencies, local Government organisations, and private sector clients in New Zealand and Australia.  Among these many initiatives was delivering training for Treasury as part of the Better Business Case nationwide rollout.

As a learning and development expert he has assisted hundreds of clients to improve the impact of new IT systems, business processes, online and classroom training as part of broader change initiatives. He has also contributed to multiple procurement and contract management activity to short list, evaluate, compare, select, negotiate, and appoint vendors across a range of RFI/RFP tenders.

Throughout he has worked effectively with hundreds of subject matter experts (SMEs) from frontline staff to senior executives, and personally enhanced the workplace performance of thousands of people.

Simon has NZQA qualifications in first line management and adult learning and development, as well as first aid. He also holds accreditations or certifications in various feedback tools; including Human Synergistics’ Life Styles Inventory (LSI) and Coaching for Superior Performance (CSP), Tetramap , and Team Management Services’ TMI.

Simon has made Wellington’s Hutt Valley his home and his passions include:

  • family
  • port – preferably tawny
  • military history
  • Star Wars, Firefly, and Babylon 5
  • wargaming – that is, he collects, builds, paints and plays with toy soldiers
  • heavy metal, favourites are Rammstein and Hu Band
  • reading - mainly science and fantasy fiction books and comics.
